MSC Napoli - DV Howells Limited Incident Response Division remobilised
Following the successful discharge of containers of the MSC Napoli, DV Howells Limited Incident Response Division,
was remobilised by the Maritime Coastguard Agency prior to the attempts to refloat the vessel.
The team was tasked with undertaking precautionary booming of the River Axe and River Brid,
as a contingency should further oil be lost from the vessel during the refloating operation.
As the vessel was refloated, its condition was discovered to be significantly worse than anticipated,
and the vessel was subsequently re beached. The refloating operation did lead to a release of oil
from the vessel and DV Howells Limited personnel responded to this. The latest sitrep as of 19 Jul 2007,
DV Howells undertaking off shore booming around MSC Napoli.
The Industrial Services Division of DV Howells Limited was also contracted to undertake
shoreline clean up operations in response to the spilled oil, a task carried out by them
successfully following the initial grounding in January.
Both the Incident Response Division and Industrial Services Division are continuing
with oil recovery operations to date.
