MSC Napoli - Maritime Coastguard Agency mobilisation
It was on January 19th 2007, when Britain’s Secretary of State for Salvage and Intervention (SOSREP)
made the decision to beach the badly damaged 53409gt container ship rather than risk a longer tow to Portland.
At this time DV Howells were mobilised by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) to deploy their equipment
and personnel as holders of the MCA UK Stockpile Contract in response to the imminent threat of pollution,
the response units remained on station to cover this situation until the end of February.
